Você sabe a maneira correta de usar uma garrafa térmica?
Trazer sua própria garrafa térmica agora é de conhecimento comum! But have you ever noticed that even after washing, your thermos still has a strange smell? A thermos is an essential item for many people when going out every day. Besides water, many also use it to store their favorite coffee or tea! No entanto, this simple daily habit could potentially lead to a “toxic” crisis!
Stainless steel thermos flasks are the most stable, but they have hidden risks.
Among various containers or cups for holding beverages, there are limitations or conditions to their use. Stainless steel thermos flasks are arguably the most stable among various materials, and they can hold a wide range of temperatures and pH levels.
Generally, thermos flasks are popular because they can keep beverages at a high temperature for a long time. Most people use them to brew or store tea. No entanto, if tea leaves or tea water are steeped in hot water for too long, like continuously simmering over a low flame, a large amount of tannins and theophylline will be released. This not only affects the flavor of the tea but also destroys its nutrients.

Remember not to store milk in a thermos; the odor is the hardest to remove.
Besides consuming beverages in stainless steel cups as soon as possible, it’s also not recommended to keep excessively hot, acidic, or medicinal drinks sealed in a thermos for extended periods. Prolonged contact between the beverage and stainless steel can increase the risk of chemical release.
Many people often use thermoses to store hot milk for convenience or to enjoy its flavor immediately. No entanto, this common practice allows microorganisms in the milk to multiply rapidly. Besides causing the milk to spoil and potentially leading to diarrhea if consumed, the lingering milk odor in the thermos is extremely difficult to remove completely!
How to Properly Use a Stainless Steel Thermos Mug
Using a thermos mug is indeed environmentally friendly and good for the planet, but there are still some concerns about its use that should be considered! After opening, remember to wash the thermos mug thoroughly with a neutral detergent or boiling water to remove any residual metal or chemical substances from the surface of the bottle and inner liner.
Even though stainless steel is a stable material, it is still recommended not to pour excessively hot drinks into the thermos mug. It’s best to wait until the temperature has cooled slightly, to approximately below 80℃, before pouring them into the stainless steel thermos mug; or after pouring a very hot drink into the thermos mug, wait for it to cool slightly before closing the lid.
For cleaning the thermos mug, it is recommended to use food-grade citric acid to remove tea stains or dirt from the inner liner, or use a neutral detergent to scrub the inner liner. Especially when cleaning the inside of the thermos mug, it is best to use a sponge or soft-bristled brush to clean it, avoiding the use of steel wool, as this can scratch the surface and cause a chemical reaction when in contact with food, potentially releasing toxic substances.
If a thermos still has an odor, no matter how many times you wash it, it means that the stainless steel alloy structure has been damaged. This problem increases the chance of leaching metal compounds, and in this case, it is recommended to replace the thermos with a new one.
